Can certain songs cause emotional distress in time of war? The
British government apparently thinks so. In a recent memo to its 37
local radio stations, the British Broadcasting Corporation suggested
caution in airing the following songs:
· ''Bang Bang (My Baby Shot Me Down)'' Cher
· ''Give Peace a Chance'' and ''Imagine'' John Lennon
· ''Two Tribes'' Frankie Goes to Hollywood
· ''In the Air Tonight'' Phil Collins
· ''Killer Queen'' Queen
· ''(I Just) Died in Your Arms Tonight'' Cutting Crew
· ''I Shot the Sheriff'' Eric Clapton
· ''Billy, Don't Be a Hero'' Paper Lace
· ''Under Attack'' ABBA
· ''Killing Me Softly With His Song'' Roberta Flack
· ''Light My Fire'' The Doors
· ''Atomic'' Blondie
· ''Love Is a Battlefield'' Pat Benatar
· ''War'' Edwin Starr
· ''Walk Like an Egyptian'' Bangles
· ''Saturday Night's Alright for Fighting'' Elton John
