A horror exploitation flick with fairly high production values, the original Child's Play was a surprisingly polished guilty pleasure. But the throwaway sequel Child's Play 2 merely exploits children's fears of abandonment and rejection and offers profanity and gore in place of real chills. The spirit of a serial killer repossesses Chuckie the doll and again tries to kill an adorable 6-year-old boy. Along the way Chuckie succeeds in slaughtering some adults, despite being about one-tenth their size. How? The victims are stupid. Didn't any of these characters ever see a horror movie? Well, at least they didn't have to sit through this one.
