Movie Review

Problem Child 2 (1991)

EW's GRADE
D

Details Rated: PG-13; Genre: Comedy; With: Michael Oliver and John Ritter

If you took Home Alone and removed any justification for the kid's demonic booby traps (he was trying to protect his castle, remember?), you'd have the Problem Child movies, in which Michael Oliver, a freckled tyke with a big ripe smirk of malice, engages in such good-natured antics as electrocuting people and sticking cherry bombs in toilets. Problem Child 2 also boasts a splatteringly graphic puke-athon set aboard a carnival ride. I'm probably getting awfully moralistic, but couldn't the geniuses who devise entertainment for tots have come up with something a bit more, uh, responsible? Kids in this culture already have more than enough opportunity to turn into frat-house jerks. D
