Perhaps MCA is releasing The Nude Bomb, derived from the old Get Smart TV series, hoping we'll mistake it for The Naked Gun, which it resembles only in that both films star sentient mammalians. As to why The Nude Bomb comes nowhere near the show's shaggy-dog charm, perhaps it's the lack of input from series creators Mel Brooks and Buck Henry. Or maybe it's the absence of Barbara Feldon's 99, or a plot played too seriously for comedy, or the possibility that everybody involved in the project was walking through it to pick up a paycheck. In any case, except for a cameo by Bill Dana, this is painfully unfunny viewing. Stick to the reruns on the tube. C-
