Beyond 'Holiday Inn'

Off-beat holiday titles -- ''Silent Night, Deadly Night'' and ''Santa Claus Conquers the Martians'' are some movie options for the season

Tired of It's a Wonderful Life and Miracle on 34th Street? Not all yuletide fare has been rerun ad nauseam. Before you resort to reenacting you own Christmas Carol, consider these more offbeat holiday titles:

CHRISTMAS HOLIDAY (1944)
A young woman falls for a heel who plans to commit murder during the Christmas holidays. Adapted from W. Somerset Maugham's novel, this marked a departure for cutesy Deanna Durbin, and for Gene Kelly as her cad husband.

SANTA CLAUS CONQUERS THE MARTIANS (1964)
Aliens kidnap St. Nick, and transport him to Mars, where he's forced to make toys. Watch for young Pia Zadora as a little green martian.

BLACK CHRISTMAS (1974)
A killer stalks students during Christmas break; featuring Keir Dullea and Andrea Martin

DON'T OPEN TILL CHRISTMAS (1984)
Someone's knocking off Father Christmases in Britain. Scotland Yard comes to the rescue...

SILENT NIGHT, DEADLY NIGHT (1984)
A slasher in a Santa suit; so notorious it was pulled from theatrical release.
