Not since NBC's powerhouse mid-'80s lineup of Thursday sitcoms (Cosby, Family Ties, Cheers, Night Court) has one night of programming dominated the Nielsens as thoroughly as ABC's current quartet of Tuesday com-edies: The Dec. 3 episodes of Full House, Home Improvement, Roseanne, and Coach were the week's four most-watched shows. But the sitcoms' ratings magic didn't rub off on ABC's Tuesday drama, Homefront, which fell to 54th place. ABC, stuck in third place for most of this fall, finished second (behind NBC) for week 12 of the season, but claimed a decisive victory in the battle for the Pearl Harbor audience. ABC's Dec. 5 documentary Pearl Harbor: Two Hours That Changed the World drew 23 million viewers and finished 15th for the week. NBC's four-part repeat of the 1978 miniseries Pearl peaked at 43rd, and CBS' Dec. 7 documentary Remember Pearl Harbor trailed at 52nd.
