Millennium (1990)

MPAA Rating: PG-13

Details Movie Rated: PG-13; Genres: Mystery and Thriller, Sci-fi and Fantasy; With: Kris Kristofferson and Cheryl Ladd

People are fascinated by plane crashes, right? And they seem to love those Back to the Future time-travel movies. So why not combine the two success formulas into one big movie? Someone did and Millennium is the unfortunate result. It offers neither the tension of a good plane-disaster movie nor the ingenuity of a smart time-travel tale.

Kris Kristofferson, who boasts a screen presence reminiscent of a bullfrog on tranquilizers, plays a plane-crash investigator, and Cheryl Ladd is a time-traveling soldier with a scary Joey Heatherton-like futuristic coif. Her job is to keep Kristofferson from finding the stun gun the previous futuristic team accidentally left aboard the crashed plane.

Unaccountably, she falls in love with the warty old croaker. When he tells his superiors that he believes in invaders from the future who are benignly involved in present-day air disasters, she rescues him as his career goes down in flames.

But who's to save him from the consequences of movies like Millennium? D
