Film
The movie version of The Addams Family, TV's monster series
of the mid-' 60s, is casting class rather than kitsch for the screen. Anjelica Huston will play Morticia (below, the series' Carolyn Jones), Raul Julia her hot-tempered husband, Gomez, and seven-foot,
Dutch-born actor Carel Struycken, better known as the Twin Peaks giant, will portray butler Lurch. ''We're going for the high style of [New Yorker cartoonist Charles Addams'] drawings rather than the campiness of the series,'' says casting associate Debbie Zane.
Music
Following the success of Jon Bon Jovi's first solo album, Blaze of Glory, rumors were that the heartthrob vocalist would break
up his mega- successful heavy metal band. But, according to a
spokesperson for PolyGram, the band never broke up ''they've just
taken a hiatus.'' Their first concert in over a year will be at
Japan's Tokyo Dome on New Year's Eve.
TV
It hasn't taken long for the Persian Gulf crisis to become
fodder for prime-time. ABC's upcoming adventure series The Company is
filming a two-part episode in which the show's heroes CIA-type
agents try to escape the Middle East on the eve of the Iraqi invasion
of Kuwait. The L.A.-based series used a local landfill to film
desert scenes and a cemetery heavy with Moorish architecture in
Compton, Calif., to double for Kuwait's grand bazaar.
