Knight Moves

In Steven Spielberg's ''Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade,'' Indy sought the Holy Grail. Now, Spielberg wants to go back to the first crusade in search of the sacred cup. He's developing ''Arthur,'' an eight-episode miniseries for HBO, according to the Hollywood Reporter.

Spielberg would coproduce the series with Tony To, who coproduced ''Band of Brothers,'' Spielberg's HBO miniseries about more contemporary warriors. Much of the writing would fall to David Leland, who directed one episode of ''Brothers.'' To was also set to coproduce HBO's ''Alexander the Great'' miniseries with Mel Gibson's Icon Productions, though Gibson's busy schedule has put that project on hold.

''Arthur'' would mix legend and historical fact. It is expected to cost around $10 million per episode, about the same amount as ''Alexander'' and ''Brothers.'' It would go into production in early 2003. Still, HBO has yet to make it official and say whether the project will get the green light or get round-tabled.
