Q How does ''Reign of Fire'''s single male dragon populate the world with babies?

A Not even the film's screenwriters know for sure, but they have a theory. ''The thought is that eggs were also in that [London] lair with him,'' ventures Gregg Chabot of the lone male that survived from an extinct dragon population. Adds co-scribe Kevin Peterka: ''So when the dragon was released, it was able to fertilize the eggs and take over the world.'' Not bad, says Harvard evolutionary biology prof David Haig. ''Frogs and most fish fertilize the eggs outside the female's body,'' he says, adding cautiously, ''though I'm not an expert on dragons.''
