You don't have to possess the intuition of a Deadhead to appreciate that the band was on quite a roll when it toured Europe in '72. Culled from various British performances, this four-disc set captures a fully charged septet, complete with the ill-fated vocalist Ron ''Pigpen'' McKernan, digging deep into well-loved material. No revelations (though a never-before-released version of ''Rockin' Pneumonia'' is fun), just vibrant playing from an ensemble that truly came alive only on stage.
