At last summer's Reggae Sumfest in Montego Bay, Jamaica, authorities cited Ja Rule and seven other performers for using profanity onstage. Ja Rule came back for this year's fest last weekend, telling reporters on Saturday, ''I didn't know [profanity] was such a big problem. I think I tried to keep it down last year.'' He could have faced a fine -- a whopping $20 -- but the rapper failed to respond to a summons, so now he faces an arrest warrant, the Associated Press reports.
The rapper (real name: Jeffrey Atkins) was served on Sunday, the day after his performance, with a summons to appear in court the next day to answer last year's charge. However, AP reports, he left the island the same day, so when he failed to show in court on Monday, Judge Wilson Smith ordered his arrest. So if he comes back next summer, watch out.
Meanwhile, Jamaica's own Beenie Man, the Grammy-winning dancehall toaster, also faces a profanity charge from last year's show. His court date is upcoming, and in his case, the authorities know where to find him.
