They've scored hits with antihero anthems (''Hey Man, Nice Shot'') and Bic-waving ballads (''Take a Picture''), but Filter reconcile those two extremes here. Skyscraping melodies, tonsil-shredding screams, electronic textures, and acoustic and metal guitars all peacefully coexist on songs like ''Where Do We Go From Here.'' Richard Patrick's unfocused lyrics don't offer much insight into the album's reported subject: America's cultural diversity. But the music is more honed than ever.
