A tricky novelty item from Steven Soderbergh, in which Julia Roberts and Blair Underwood play actors playing actors in a movie-within-the-movie, while the director messes with a camera, toggling between handheld digital video and glossier film. If Soderbergh's Ocean's Eleven was a high-priced banquet of popular guys toasting one another's coolness, this is the low-budget after-party, a late-night game of strip poker and pointlessness with players including Catherine Keener, David Hyde Pierce, and David Duchovny.
