Chinese B-movie ''thug idol'' Jia Hongsheng was huge in the late '80s but by the mid-'90s, he had become an institutionalized heroin addict. Talk about cinema vérité: The biopic, directed by Zhang Yang (''Shower''), cast nearly all of the actual people involved, from Hongsheng to his family, friends, doctor, and fellow patients.
