Fed up with the poverty and alcoholism rampant on the Pine Ridge Indian reservation, police officer Rudy Yellow Lodge (Eric Schweig) takes the law into his own hands. Director Chris Eyre, working from the 1995 novel by poet Adrian C. Louis, revisits life on the ''rez'' in a dramatic follow-up to his 1998 debut comedy, ''Smoke Signals.''
