Let's overlook for a minute the fact that cowriter Fein filed for divorce last year. And the fact that millions of women reading the same damn book trying to shape themselves into ''creatures unlike any other'' is not only ironic but, well, creepy. The most disturbing thing about this dating manual is that it takes the same playing-hard-to-get tactics Fein and Schneider nattered about in the original Rules and repackages them just in time to cash in on the online dating craze. Sure, the pair offer attempts at updates, including entire chapters devoted to ''Post a Smiling Photo'' and ''Create a Good Screen Name,'' but most of the advice is still firmly planted somewhere between retro and Neanderthal.
