5. Despite her on-screen rendition of ''Natural Woman,'' she can't sing.
Model-slash-actress? Yes. Model-slash-actress-slash-pop star? ''No way!'' she says. Maybe that's why Niccol used Mary J. Blige's voice in a scene where Simone belts out the R&B diva standard. Roberts claims she'd never even held a microphone before filming the difficult scene: ''My singing career is strictly in the shower.''
6. She's easily intimidated.
Roberts' biggest hang-up about taking the part (aside from the whole thing about never acting before) was working with Al Pacino. ''I was a nervous wreck. I lost 10 pounds just from nerves.'' After a speechless first encounter, she says she had little opportunity to mingle with her co-star. ''Most of the time off the set, I was hiding.''
7. She'll do anything for a job.
Well, not really. But she was forced onto her hands and knees for this gig. For one scene, ''they drove six 300-pound hogs in on a giant trailer, brought them into this pig pen, and had me down on my hands and knees eating with them.'' She adds, with a half-joking pout, ''Andrew [Niccol] should be locked up for that one. He's a tyrant.''
8. She has no future acting plans.
If Roberts is so hot, how come she doesn't have her next 10 projects lined up? For one, she ''didn't exist'' until this week, so it's been difficult to make plans and it's been a contract no-no to showcase her previous work. ''I have no idea what it's gonna be like in two weeks,'' she worries. ''People don't know I exist.'' Well, that just changed.
