It's official: Panic Room is the most disappointing decent movie of the last year. Which is to say that -- minus minor plot contortions and an utterly absurd Jared Leto performance -- there's nothing really that wrong with David Fincher's thriller about a woman (Jodie Foster) and her daughter trapped in their Manhattan town house by burglars. But on the heels of the explosive, important ''Fight Club,'' one has to wonder what such a promising director saw in such a pedestrian potboiler.
