When a well-off Indian clan gathers for a young woman's nuptials, its harried members are forced to confront -- and challenge -- the traditions and trappings of generations past. Director Mira Nair's (''The Perez Family'') color-drenched drama Monsoon Wedding is a joyous hymn to the bond of family, with lovingly complex characters (particularly Naseeruddin Shah as the doting, strong-willed father) that resonate like a wedding snapshot come to life.
