Ye cannae go home again -- or can ye? Welsh decides to give it a go in this belated sequel to 1993's Trainspotting, which ended with barely recovering junkie Mark Renton escaping to Amsterdam after robbing his skaggy Caledonian mates: Spud, Simon ''Sick Boy'' Williamson, and the psychotic Begbie. In Porno -- a convoluted, coked-up coda to the original's smack-addled beggar's opera -- they're all back in Leith, with Rents and Simon warily teamed for one last scam, incorporating electronic theft, blue movies, and a bevy of rather unconvincing female characters. Sound contrived? Adapted for the screen is more like it. Still, the cellular-level agonies of Trainspotting persist in Simon's desperately virtuoso narcissism -- he's shaken both his brogue and his heroin habit, but he just can't shake Leith.
