Entertainment Weekly's Field Guide To TheNext New Things

Cause Celebre

October is National Breast Cancer Awareness Month, and stars are lending their power to the cause. Among the month's events, which all benefit the Susan G. Komen Breast Cancer Foundation:

-- Kirsten Dunst, Ray Romano, and Susan Sarandon are all tied up in ads for Ford Motors' Kate Spade-designed silk scarf, available at Bloomingdale's.

-- A-list men such as Tom Hanks and Hugh Jackman (whose handiwork is pictured) are getting into shoe business, decorating Stuart Weitzman stilettos for the designer's second annual auction (stuartweitzman.com).

-- Matt Damon, Lucy Liu, and others have added their own artistic touches to one-of-a-kind painted Loews popcorn tubs, available on eBay through October.

-- Providence's Melina Kanakaredes teams up with Lee Jeans for Oct. 4's Lee National Denim Day, when participants wear jeans to work and donate $5 to the foundation.
