Past the Point of Rescue (1991)

EW's GRADE
A-

Details Lead Performance: Hal Ketchum; Genre: Country

Country music's growing popularity is creating opportunities for songwriters to make names for themselves as singers. Hal Ketchum looks to be one of the few writers out of the Texas school to mesh musical storytelling with commercial country-radio success. Literate and tuneful, Past the Point of Rescue balances poetic love songs with a squint-eyed look at teenage rebellion, romance, and psychological intrigue, all delivered with a tenor that throbs with passion and conviction.
