The star-packed CD offers a bounty of warm neo-soul and cool rap from Jill Scott, Angie Stone, Mos Def, and others. The best track -- ''Love of My Life (an Ode to Hip Hop)'' by Erykah Badu and rapper Common -- sharply chronicles one woman's longtime affection for rap. The metaphor-rich lyrics, which trace the complex history of the oft-embattled genre, make the tune applicable to anyone who has romanced a troubled soul.
