TOEJAM & EARL III: MISSION TO EARTH

(Xbox; Sega; Teen) This lighthearted title comes straight from the Sega Genesis era. ToeJam, Earl, and Latisha are aliens from planet Funkotron who seem to have overindulged in old-skool videos on BET. Their mission: Fetch the 12 Sacred Albums of Funk from earthlings. Their adventure is an overblown yet accessible Easter-egg hunt. Loaded with risque puns and kid-friendly hip-hop slang, TJ&E is fun -- but forgettable fun. Still, its promise of downloadable content, and sheer silliness, brings some whimsy to the funk-starved Xbox.
