Does Manolo Blahnik make baby booties? If not, then ''Sex and the City'''s Sarah Jessica Parker will have to knit a few herself for her new son, born early Monday morning at a New York City hospital. It's the first child for Parker, 37, and husband Matthew Broderick, 40, who've been married for five and a half years. Parker's publicist, Ina Treciokas, confirmed to EW.com news of the birth, which was first reported in Tuesday's New York Post. Of Parker and Broderick, Treciokas says, ''They're happy, they're elated, they're sleep-deprived.''
The Post reports the baby's name as David Perkins Broderick, but Treciokas tells EW.com that that name is incorrect, and she doesn't know yet what name the parents have chosen. She also can't confirm whether the Post's report that Parker's similarly expectant ''Sex'' costar Cynthia Nixon has already visited Parker and son in the hospital.
Parker's maternity delayed production on ''Sex and the City,'' which aired an abbreviated season this summer and will shoot the rest of the season in February, HBO has said in earlier statements. (Nixon, too, is expected to have delivered by then.) Parker's pregnancy was not written into the show, which shot around (and mostly above) her bulging belly. February is also the scheduled airdate on ABC of Broderick's made-for-TV version of the musical ''The Music Man.''
