Great minds apparently think alike, especially when they're both former stars of ''Beverly Hills, 90210.'' According to the Hollywood Reporter, Tori Spelling has signed on with NBC to develop a sitcom about a young publicist working in New York City. The idea for the untitled show is her own, according to the Reporter, and it must be a good one, since a similar idea is working so well for Spelling's former costar, Jennie Garth. On the WB's new hit ''What I Like About You,'' Garth plays a young publicist working in New York City -- only she is also saddled with a teenage sister, played by Amanda Bynes.
No word on whether the Spelling sitcom will also include a kid sister. However, it will include lots of slapstick, which producer Vivian Cannon says is Spelling's strong suit. As a low-level employee at a corporate public relations firm who gets stuck with the company's least prestigious accounts, Spelling ''will be going into all different kinds of environments week to week, and it provides a lot of room for her to do physical comedy,'' Cannon says.
