Star Wars: The Clone Wars

In one of the more breathtaking scenes in Star Wars: Episode II -- Attack of the Clones, the Republic army -- a jillion clone troopers strong -- faces off against just as many Separatist battle droids in the mother of all galactic smackdowns. Watching this flurry of luminous laser blasts, kamikaze spaceships, and teeth-rattling explosions, what card-carrying Star Wars nerd didn't think it would make a cool videogame?

Be careful what you wish for, because Star Wars: The Clone Wars may be a tad too successful at making you think you're in the heat of battle. The game version of the film's set-piece event, as well as the other melees (which take place after Clones' events) that follow, can be overwhelmingly action-packed. In fact, if it weren't for on-screen cues and voice-overs constantly telling you to shoot this gunship or follow that speeder, you would be totally lost.

Most of the time, you're controlling an assortment of vehicles, from armored tanks to hovercraft bikes. And every so often Clone Wars takes you out of your war machine and lets you swing around a lightsaber as Anakin Skywalker, Obi-Wan, or Mace Windu.

At its core, Clone Wars is a basic shooter that requires little more than blowing up a lot of stuff in order to move to the next mission. Though considering it throws in everything but Aunt Beru's kitchen sink (including a fun multiplayer battle mode, gorgeous cut scenes, even a Wookiee cameo), you can't help but feel plump and satisfied after digesting this Episode II offering.
