Should you buy ''Attack of the Clones'' on DVD? | anakin
HAIR-Y SITUATION Watch as Christensen embarasses himself, again, and again, and again

DELETED SCENES ''Episode I'''s DVD offered seven dazzling deleted scenes, but ''Episode II'''s leftovers are more like table scraps only the most dogged fans can appreciate. Who needs scenes like ''Padme Addresses the Senate'' (snooze!) and ''Jedi Temple Analysis Room'' (which includes a droid with moving lips)? But check out the extras of Anakin and Padme at her parents' home simply for their train wreck value. The teen's cliché-ridden room is complete with vanity table, candles, and high-tech photos of friends long lost. It's so ''Felicity.''
Grade: C

FEATURETTES The least enticing of the discs' extras come in the form of three thinly-veiled promotional interviews, or ''featurettes'' as the makers prefer to call them. ''Story,'' ''Love,'' and ''Action'' offer summary anecdotes as told by bored (Ewan McGregor), overenthusiastic (producer Rick McCallum), and awed (Natalie Portman) actors and crew. Were these three to offer any insight into the forthcoming sequel, or shed any light on behind-the-scenes goings-on, they might be watchable, or even interesting. They don't, and they aren't.
Grade: D

PROMOTIONAL MATERIAL Like most Special Edition DVDs, ''Clones'' provides a heap of promotional material. Included here are all 16 ''Clones'' trailers, and for once they’re actually worth watching. For fans who were disappointed by the movie itself, a look back at ''Breathing'' (the original, high-on-potential ''Clones'' teaser) offers reflection on what might have been. Watch ''Breathing'' and you'll find yourself thinking ''It coulda been a contenda.''
Grade: B-

EASTER EGGS Not convinced yet? Then the hidden reel of bloopers that highlights Hayden Christensen tripping over nearly every imaginable object on the set surely makes the DVD at least worth the cost of a rental. (To find this feature, go to the first disc's options menu and move the cursor over the THX logo. Type ''11,'' wait a second, type ''3,'' wait, and then ''8.'') In other words, you get to watch Christensen fall on his face in ''Clones,'' and then do it all over again in these outtakes.
Grade: B+
