Q Could Jackass the Movie qualify for a documentary-feature Oscar?

A Although a nod seems as unlikely as Steve-O wearing pants, Oscar defines documentaries broadly enough to include Jackass, says an Academy rep. But the point is moot: Paramount missed the Oct. 1 deadline for submissions (that's earlier than the year-end date for most other categories). Nonetheless, director Jeff Tremaine holds out hope for a golden statuette. ''Why go for a little subcategory when you can go for the whole thing?'' he asks, endorsing a Best Picture campaign for the surprise gross-out hit. ''What's a better movie than ours? There isn't one.'' -- Nick White (Send queries to BurningQuestions@ew.com)
