Jamie Foxx is ready to rock. He'll play the title role in Unchain My Heart: The Ray Charles Story, an indie from Proof of Life director Taylor Hackford, who's set to shoot in March in New Orleans (doubling as Atlanta). ''We're concentrating on how he made music,'' says the Ali star, 34. ''He took gospel and religion and made it R&B and blues, which was taboo in the 1930s and '40s.'' What qualifies Foxx for the role? For starters, he's a classically trained pianist who studied music on a scholarship at San Diego's U.S. International University. Plus, the actor has bonded with his subject. ''We get together on tandem pianos -- he has pianos all over the place -- and sing the blues,'' gushes Foxx. ''He and I get down!'' -- Adam B. Vary
