Tedeschi may have lost the 2000 Best New Artist Grammy to Christina Aguilera, but the guitar-slinging chan-teuse's real competition is Bonnie Raitt. Here, Tedeschi pares back the rock edge of her debut for soulful ballads and roadhouse rambles that stress craft over innovation. She knows the blues and delivers the licks to prove it. And while this doesn't overtake Raitt, it's hot on her heels.
