Conformity pays! Two years ago, 3 Doors Down hewed to the strictest cliches of modern-rock radio. Their yield? Five million albums sold, thanks to generic hits ''Kryptonite'' and ''Loser.'' The band's second album brings out no more character in these alterna-rock spores. It's enough to make Nickelback seem like Nirvana.
