STAGE DOOR David Schwimmer is used to performing in front of a live studio audience, so his latest gig shouldn't be too hard: He'll appear in a Los Angeles production of a play called ''Turnaround,'' the Los Angeles Times reported.

The play, set in the world of Hollywood insiders, was written by Roger Kumble, who also wrote and directed the 1999 film ''Cruel Intentions'' and directed this year's ''The Sweetest Thing.'' The production opens Jan. 22 and plays until March 2 at the Coast Playhouse in West Hollywood.

PEE WEE'S PLAYPALS Courteney Cox and husband David Arquette are staying loyal to their friend Paul ''Pee Wee Herman'' Reubens, who was recently charged with possessing child pornography. The charges are ''ridiculous and dumb,'' Cox told the New York Daily News. ''He doesn't deserve it,'' Arquette said, adding, ''Paul is an incredible person.''
