Many thought Aaliyah was just a sleek marionette for producers R. Kelly and Timbaland. But these hits and unreleased cuts prove she was a muse in her own right. ''Try Again'' and ''One in a Million'' still sound like pop/R&B futurism. And a new batch of silken slow jams is a further reminder of her interpretive talent -- and our loss.
