GIRL TALK Schneider (with Faris) is ''The Hot Chick''

At this point, we don't go to Rob Schneider movies looking for laughs: We go for comfort. They're the cinematic equivalent of meatloaf, dependable and filling in their quotidian idiocy. That's certainly the case with The Hot Chick, a surprisingly good-natured throwback to the '80s heyday of the body-switching genre. Fetching, feckless cheerleader Jessica (Rachel McAdams) gets the short end of the ''Freaky Friday'' stick when a pair of magical earrings zaps her soul into the body of a lowlife shlub (Schneider). This sounds like a recipe for a lot of locker-room leering, but the once-and-future ''Deuce Bigalow'' gallantly offers up his own gnarly little physique as the fetish object: In a charming reversal, Jessica's best friend (Anna Faris, channeling Britney) is the one clamoring to get a peek at her pal's new plumbing. It's not exactly ''Orlando'' -- hell, it's not even ''Happy Gilmore'' -- but, for the Cinema of Poo, Boobs and Fluids, ''Chick'' might represent a small, stupid revolution.
