''Firefly'''s troubled flight is over. ''Buffy'' creator Joss Whedon's sci-fi drama, which was the lowest-rated show on the four major networks, has been canceled by Fox, according to the New York Daily News. The show will go off the air after a final showing of its two-hour pilot on Friday, the Daily News reported.
In an early sign of trouble, the pilot was reported to have undergone heavy tweaking at the behest of Fox executives, who worried that it didn't have enough action. Even with changes made, and heavy media hype, the series failed to attract an audience. ''Fastlane'' will take over ''Firefly'''s Friday, 8 p.m. time slot as of Jan. 10, according to the Daily News.
