''Starsky & Hutch'' are getting their own movie, but another '70s cop show is heading back to more familiar territory. NBC is developing a new version of ''CHiPs'' with director Doug Liman (''Go,'' ''Swingers,'' ''The Bourne Identity''), according to Variety. The new show will move its setting from Los Angeles to San Francisco. ''At the end of the day, it's still a show about guys who ride extremely fast motorcycles for a living,'' Liman told Variety.
The original ''CHiPs'' (a quasi-acronym for California Highway Patrol) starred Erik Estrada and Larry Wilcox as motorcycle cops. The two reunited not long ago for ''CHiPs '99,'' which aired on TNT. Their services will presumably not be required for the new series, however.
