Take that, Baz and Leo. Oliver Stone's ''Alexander the Great'' project, starring Colin Farrell, is now set to begin filming well before the other planned version of the conqueror's story, from director Baz Luhrmann and star Leonardo DiCaprio, according to Variety. Stone has reached a deal with Warner Bros. that will allow him to start shooting in June, the trade paper reported.
The DiCaprio/Luhrmann project, initially set to begin filming in January, now could start no earlier than the fall, according to Variety. DiCaprio has taken on many other projects, and Luhrmann has been busy bringing ''La Boheme'' to Broadway. Meanwhile, Stone has completed the script for his version of ''Alexander,'' which is no longer considered the underdog in this odd little race.
