Dry those tears, ''Friends'' fanatics – the gang isn't leaving Central Perk just yet. Though its writers had already been discussing plots for a final episode, ''Friends'' will return next year, with its cast intact, Variety reported. NBC and the show's producers at Warner Bros. have reached a deal that will bring back Ross, Rachel et. al. for a shorter-than-usual season: 18 episodes instead of the usual 22 or 24. At $10 million per half-hour episode, the 10th season of ''Friends'' will be the most costly primetime show ever, according to Variety.
Jennifer Aniston was particularly reluctant to return for a full season, largely because of her increasingly successful movie career, Variety reported. The 18-episode plan was developed to assuage ''quality-of-life'' concerns from her and other cast members, according to the trade paper. The cast apparently didn't ask for a raise, however; they'll keep getting the same $1 million salary per episode. Of course, there's always season 11.
