Avril Lavigne announces her first U.S. tour. She'll play 12 dates in America in January and again in April and May

HEADLINE GIRL Lavigne will tour this winter

Avril Lavigne has managed to sell 4.2 million copies of her debut, ''Let Go,'' without touring the U.S. She'll finally hit the road in support of the album next week. Hours after the Tuesday morning press conference where Lavigne and other stars announced this year's Grammy nominations -- including five for the Canadian teen -- she announced her tour dates. The tour includes three U.S. dates in January, then a European leg, then nine more dates in America in April and May.

''I'm really excited because it's my first tour and I'm headlining,'' Lavigne told Launch.com. ''I'm also excited because we're going to be playing, like, every night.''

Tickets for most shows will be available Jan. 11 through Ticketmaster, according to Billboard, which published the schedule of U.S. dates and venues below.

Jan. 14: Columbus, Ohio (Veterans Memorial Auditorium)
Jan. 15: Kansas City, Kan. (Memorial Hall)
April 15: Cleveland (CSU Convocation Center)
May 2: Phoenix (Arizona Veterans Memorial Coliseum)
May 4: Dallas (Fair Park Coliseum)
May 5: San Antonio, Texas (Freeman Coliseum)
May 8: Duluth, Ga. (Gwinnett Civic Center)
May 10: Auburn Hills, Mich. (Palace of Auburn Hills)
May 13: Uniondale, N.Y. (Nassau Coliseum)
May 15: Lowell, Mass. (Tsongas Arena)
May 17: Philadelphia (First Union Spectrum)
