FOR SURE Stefani and her bandmates will perform during halftime

We don't yet know who's playing in the Super Bowl on Jan. 26, but halftime is shaping up to be a diva duel. A day after the National Football League announced that Shania Twain would be performing at halftime, No Doubt posted a message on the band's website saying that Gwen Stefani and Company had ''confirmed plans to perform during the halftime show at Super Bowl XXXVII.'' Expect a battle of the midriffs between Twain, whose album ''Up!'' recently spent five weeks atop the Billboard chart, and Stefani, whose band was nominated for three Grammys on Tuesday.

Also signing on for the game are this year's four-time Grammy nominees the Dixie Chicks, who will sing the National Anthem before kickoff. ''For three years, we've been asking to perform 'The Star-Spangled Banner' at the Super Bowl," Natalie Maines told Billboard in December. ''Anyone who tells you there's no pressure to sing the national anthem live to one of the biggest television audiences on the planet is not telling the truth," Emily Robison said in a statement yesterday. "Sure, I'm a little nervous, but we're all also very excited and honored for the privilege." Noted Martie Maguire, "It will be the first appearance we've done since Emily had her baby in November. With Emily's new baby and Natalie's toddler, our biggest challenge for this event might be trying to find good babysitters on Super Bowl Sunday!''

In addition, the pre-game show will feature Carlos Santana and guests, Billboard reports, citing NFL sources. More names are likely to be added in the coming days, filling out a musical bill that will make for a long day of live performances on ABC. Oh yeah, there'll be some football in there somewhere, too.
