BIRTHS On Jan. 3, Scrubs' Christa Miller Lawrence, 38, and husband Bill Lawrence, 33, the sitcom's creator and exec producer, welcomed 7-pound 6-ounce son William Stoddard. Their daughter, Charlotte, is 2.

WEDDINGS Actress Tia Carrere, 36, and British photojournalist Simon Wakelin exchanged vows Dec. 31 in Carpenteria, Calif. She was previously wed to City by the Sea producer Elie Samaha; it's Wakelin's first marriage.... Six Feet Under's Brenda may have commitment issues, but alter ego Rachel Griffiths, 34, married artist Andrew Taylor on New Year's Eve in Melbourne. It was the first wedding for both.

ENGAGED Julianne Moore, 42, has agreed to marry auteur Bart Freundlich, 32. They met when he directed her in 1997's The Myth of Fingerprints. The couple has two children. No date is set.... Apparently she's no longer torn. Crooner and L'Oreal spokesmodel Natalie Imbruglia, 27, will wed fellow Aussie and silverchair frontman Daniel Johns, 22. There's no date yet.... On Christmas Eve, The King of Queens hottie Leah Remini, 32, accepted the proposal of singer-actor Angelo Pagan (Swordfish). They'll marry this summer.

CASTING Gosford Park star Michael Gambon, 62, is negotiating to play Dumbledore in Warner Bros.' Harry Potter franchise. ''They've offered, and he wants to do it,'' says his agent. Gambon would replace Richard Harris, who died in October. The third film in the series, Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban, is due in theaters June 2004.

ARRESTS On Dec. 30, Tucson cops arrested diva Diana Ross, 58, on charges of driving under the influence. The singer allegedly parked her car askew in a handicapped spot at a closed Blockbuster, then blearily approached a cop to ask for directions. Her publicist had no comment.... Green Day singer Billie Joe Armstrong, 30, was arrested Jan. 5 in Berkeley, Calif., for allegedly driving under the influence. He was released on $1,200 bail and is due in court in February. A band publicist had no comment.... On Dec. 31, Eminem protege 50 Cent (ne Curtis Jackson), 27, was arrested in New York City on two counts of criminal possession of a weapon after cops allegedly found two loaded handguns in his rented SUV. He was released on $10,000 bond and appeared at a Jan. 3 hearing, where his lawyer proclaimed the rapper's innocence.

COURTS Maybe he's not the Six Million Dollar Man. On Dec. 31, Lee Majors, 63, sued Universal Television for unspecified damages, claiming it has shortchanged him on profits from the '70s series in which he starred. A Universal spokesman declined to comment.... In a $10 million suit filed Nov. 29 but disclosed late last month, a Montana electrical worker named Jack Ass, 44, sued MTV parent Viacom, arguing its Jackass franchise violates his trademark. He legally changed his name from Bob Craft in 1997 (three years before Jackass debuted) to gain publicity for an anti-drunken-driving campaign he initiated after his brother was killed in a car accident. ''They should've done their research,'' says Ass. ''My values and their direction are two different things.'' MTV declined to comment.
