JON LANGFORD AND HIS SADIES The Mayors of the Moon (Bloodshot) The Mekons' Welsh frontman joins up with the rootsy Canadians for a very American-sounding album.

IN THE STUDIO

PUDDLE OF MUDD, in Los Angeles, working on the successor to their triple-platinum debut, Come Clean. John Kurzweg, the modern-rock maestro who was a producer on that disc as well as Creed's three albums, is at the boards.

THE DAMNED, onetime Sex Pistols rivals and the first U.K. punk band to tour America back in the day, in London, with Motorhead frontman Lemmy Kilmister.

Self-styled rebel GARY ALLAN, whose single ''Man to Man'' is currently ambling up the country chart, in Nashville prepping the follow-up to 2001's Alright Guy. The recording sessions will include a live set scheduled for Feb. 12 at the City of Twang's Bluebird Cafe.
