The family comedy ''Kangaroo Jack'' stuffed $17.7 million into its pouch this weekend, landing at No. 1 at the box office. ''Jack'' beat the Martin Lawrence/Steve Zahn buddy comedy ''National Security,'' which scored $15.7 million to land at No. 2.
Last week's No. 1, ''Just Married,'' fell to No. 3, earning a still-solid $12.5 million. ''The Lord of the Rings: The Two Towers,'' meanwhile, hit $11.4 million, claiming the No. 4 spot and bringing its total take to nearly $300 million. ''Catch Me if You Can'' was close behind, hitting No. 5 with $11.3 million.
The oft-rescheduled comedy ''A Guy Thing,'' starring Jason Lee and Julia Stiles, earned a weak $7.1 million, debuting at No. 7. ''The Hours'' opened in additional theaters over the weekend, helping it enter the top 10 at No. 9, with $4.7 million earned.
The rest of the top 10 include ''Chicago'' ($8 millon) at No. 6, ''About Schmidt'' ($6.3 million) at No. 8, and ''Two Weeks Notice," ($4.1 million) at No. 10.
