Rob Lowe may have bolted ''The West Wing'' over salary demands, but there are apparently no hard feelings between him and NBC. Variety reports that he's close to signing on as star and producer of a new NBC drama, called ''Lyon's Den.'' On the show, he'd play a Sam Seaborn-like character, an idealistic young attorney involved in the world of law and politics.
While Lowe's ''West Wing'' character served at the pleasure of the president, his ''Lyon's Den'' character would be chafing under the shadow of his father, a state senator. He'd earn a reported six-figure salary for the show, a step up from the $75,000 he reportedly earned per episode of ''West Wing.'' Lowe announced he was quitting that show last summer after producers declined to give him a raise, but he's apparently learned a few legal lessons since then; his new deal grants him a hefty penalty if NBC fails to pick up the project, Variety reports.
