Is Eminem now so big he doesn't need MTV? He's still making videos, but if you want to see his latest, for the song ''Superman,'' you'll have to buy the ''8 Mile'' DVD. Variety reports that Interscope, Eminem's label, is deliberately bypassing MTV and all other media in order to get fans to pay once more for Eminem's music (instead of, say, downloading it).
Label chairman Jimmy Iovine did not disclose the terms of the deal, but he told Variety that the agreement would boost the balance sheets of both Interscope and Universal Studios Home Video, both of which are units of Vivendi Universal. Other extras include 25 additional minutes of the hit film's battle-of-words footage between Eminem and other rappers. The DVD hits stores on March 18.
