BEST-SELLERS

THE KING OF CHARTS

John Grisham's new book, The King of Torts, debuts this week at No. 1. Now comes the hard part. Given that the latest novels by powerhouse authors like King, Clancy, and Crichton have been falling out of the top perches of the best-seller chart more quickly than they used to, industry spotters are going to be watching very closely to see if Grisham's King -- with its 2.8 million copies in print -- will get comfortable on its No. 1 throne.
