'DEVIL' VS. DORKS

In The battle of superheroes against super-goofs, Ben Affleck's Daredevil bested the strongest of four newcomers, Will Ferrell's bare-buns-and-all Old School, by less than $1 million to come out on top for the second week running. Death-row drama The Life of David Gale opened at a so-so $7.1 mil, while Kurt Russell's gritty cop flick Dark Blue wound up finishing behind the critically panned Civil War epic Gods and Generals. And as the Oscar race heats up, key contenders are holding strong in the top 20 -- except for Gangs of New York, which slipped to No. 22 in its 10th week.
