Clear Blue Skies/ Re:Release (2003)

EW's GRADE
B+

Details Release Date: Feb 25, 2003; Lead Performance: Juggaknots

Though poorly mixed, erratically recorded, and unevenly sequenced, this long-awaited indie full-length -- actually a compilation spanning seven years -- from the Bronx-bred duo boasts not only one of the most vital vocalists in hip-hop but also at least two of the best-written raps ever. After hearing lead MC Breezly Brewin's tumbling thriller ''I'm Gonna Kill You'' or his race-baiting role-player title track, you'll wonder why Eminem's piddling around with 50 Cent.
